The magic of a sail that becomes a shoe. The Sail collection is designed for those who love the sea and new adventures to live and share with friends. White or black, extremely light but durable: an exclusive fabric for a covetable collection. All the shoes of the Sail collection are made with sail fabric (kevlar or dacron) that we recover from the Adriatic sea ports: mainsails and spinnakers are transformed into soft and trendy sneakers.
The sail fabric we use to produce our Sail collection is collected and recovered from Italian sea ports. After sailing thousands of miles, mainsails are replaced by new ones and are often dumped in landfills.
All the shoes of the Sail collection are limited edition and unique, like the material we use to produce them.
From the sole to the upper, every single part of the Sail collection shoes is designed and created by the expert hands of our artisans. RE49 production is tailor-made and not industrial.
Our shoes are made in Italy and are created bearing in mind our customers’ needs, who want design but also a comfortable walking experience. RE49 shoes are conceived, designed and produced in our atelier in Gonars, in the province of Udine.
The shoes of the Sail collection tell stories of friendship, sunsets and improvised dinners. The white fabric of our Sails shoes, that once was a mainsail rigged on the main post of a sailing boat, is now transformed into the most sustainable pair of sneakers in the world, made in a circular economy.
Every pair of shoes, through the materials they are made of, has more than one story to tell, like a sail that carries memories of adventures, friendship and that blissful, peaceful feeling we get when we sail, lulled by the waves of the sea and caressed by the Mediterranean wind. During a trip on a sailing boat, one can rediscover the essential in life, the importance of values over material things, a comeback to the origins: exactly like the story of RE49. The shoes of the RE49 Sail collection adapt perfectly to feet, because their insoles are made of recycled cotton terry towels, recovered from hotels of the Adriatic Riviera.
